HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR RESORT IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

299

I’ve been wanting to go to Dominican Republic for a while now.. Everybody knows or has heard about the amazing beaches and the beautiful all inclusive resorts. SO MANY to choose from!

First of all, let me teach you how to pick the perfect resort for you. Focus on your KEY REQUIREMENTS:

ARE YOU TRAVELING WITH KIDS, FRIENDS OR IN COUPLE?

WOULD YOU LIKE EXCURSIONS?

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN WATER ACTIVITIES SUCH AS SCUBA DIVING, SNORKELING, JET SKIING ETC.?

ARE YOU OK WITH EATING EVERY DAY, 3 TIMES A DAY AT THE SAME BUFFET RESTAURANT OR WOULD YOU PREFER VARIETY?

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HAVING ENTERTAINMENT INSIDE YOUR RESORT?

NOW TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:

If you’re traveling with KIDS, there are resorts with different fun activities for them: scavenger hunts, team games, waterslides or even waterparks.
If you’re traveling with FRIENDS you’ll probably like to have entertainment, so there are clubs inside resorts or you might want to go to the famous Coco Bongo club.
If you’re traveling as a COUPLE, you may want to have some romantic facilities such as a spa, a hot tub in the room or on the balcony.

I had a hot tub on the balcony and the view was to die for!

HERE’S A TIP: As I’m almost always traveling with my better half, I like to play the anniversary card. For those of you who don’t know yet what that is, I usually write in advance that it’s our special anniversary and that we picked their hotel especially for that and we would like a nice room, lovely view etc. They have always given me a wonderful view and almost always some complementary champagne or chocolates

So on to the ACTIVITIES part.

Usually all the best resorts have snorkeling activities available. If you’re a scuba diving fan, you might want to pick a dedicated dive resort or your resort could hook you up for the nearest diving center.

As for FOOD… Personally I love to eat. So you might have figured out that eating at the same buffet every day won’t satisfy me. I picked a resort with 8 restaurants + 2 buffet restaurants + a sports bar with a restaurant.

Now for the ENTERTAINMENT part… My resort had a theatre that hosted different shows every night, so 7 different shows a week and a club inside the resort. They also had aqua gym classes during the day, zumba classes at the beach.

As I had 9 days in that resort, I figured I could spare a day for SPA activities. They had hydrotherapy, hot and cold baths, sauna, steam room, gym, massage, aromatherapy and many others along with a beautiful infinity pool.

I picked Barcelo Bavaro Grand Resort and it was the best choice I ever made! I’m now hooked on the beauty of the Dominican Republic and I already planned my second stay at this resort. This was one of the best vacations I’ve ever had, but more important it was the most relaxing one.
